Thunderstorms fart out antimatter?

Exciting news: NASA’s Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope has confirmed that whenever a thunderstorm erupts here on Earth, its intense electrical field causes electrons to speed up to nearly the speed of light. Incredibly, this sets off a chain reaction that results in the creation of antimatter particles. Whoa!

As it turns out, thunderstorms are doing this — farting out antimatter — all the time. Craziness! I’ve watched my fair share of of sci-fi on television, though, so I can’t help but wonder: Do these strange antimatter particles sport facial goatees and harbor evil designs toward their matter-based counterparts??
